How sulforaphane works

The switch that turns on your body's own defenses.

Your cells come with a built-in defense system governed by a protein called Nrf2. Most of the time it sits quiet. Sulforaphane activates it, signaling your cells to make their own antioxidant and protective enzymes. That is the difference between swallowing an antioxidant and growing one:

an antioxidant you take neutralizes a single molecule and it is gone, while sulforaphane supports your body in producing its own defenses, on its own schedule. Sulforaphane is not ready-made in the seed. It forms when you sprout, as glucoraphanin meets the enzyme myrosinase the moment a fresh sprout is chopped or chewed.
